TODAY’S DAS REPORT CARD AT DLR 6/22/24

Brought to you by a company that thinks everyone is trying to cheat them out of Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lane dollars, and the Letter G and the Number 💰

😡Interviewing minor children who may not have a full understanding of their disability. 👉🏻You see, many parents try to help their children by looking at the positives. How to manage things without fully letting them know at a young age the negatives of their diagnoses. Until you need DAS at Disneyland and now need to include them in these discussions.🤦🏻‍♀️

😡Separating caregivers from disabled guests. 👉🏻You just don’t separate the disabled from caregivers because they serve an IMPORTANT PURPOSE and may be NEEDED in times of trouble. Just because a single parent has a caregiver with them does NOT mean you can separate those three. 😑

😡CMs at the DAS booths have a limit of how many they can approve each day. 👉🏻Apparently they can only ‘dole out’ a certain amount each day. Which means if you are the unlucky one at THEIR window, nothing you do or say will matter.🤦🏻‍♀️

😡Separating disabled (declined DAS ) guests from their entire party if asking for a Location Return Time. 👉🏻The limit is supposed to be 6 with non-ADA guests at attractions but every location apparently makes their own decision.😑 Some have told guests that the rest of the party must go through the regular line. Another separation that shouldn’t happen, especially if it’s because one person is disabled.

😡Asking a parent for day to day details on how they manage their child’s expressive and cognitive disorder. They tell us they don’t want diagnoses but then they drill parents AND other disabled guests about the intimate details about how they manage their days…which there is no equal comparison to being in a theme park. None. 👉🏻A grocery store run may be simply mobile pick up because we cannot manage those lines. This is what is called a false equivalency or simply comparing apples to oranges. Just because I can wait in my air conditioned comfortable vehicle does not mean I can wait in the sun with people who have NO concept of personal space and where someone is constantly telling people to “FILL IN ALL AVAILABLE SPACE!” How exactly do we “Encourage other members of your party to help create space around you in line to make it more comfortable.”?!?!😑

I STILL feel that the people who created the new recommendations have NEVER been in a Disney Parks queue. Have NEVER taken care of a disabled child. And who have NEVER been in our situations. Honestly? Can you explain these situations? Because I can’t.

All I’m going to say is don’t visit Lego land, seaworld or universal because you won’t be happy with them either. They comply with ADA that’s all that matters. Parents not telling their kids about their disability that’s sad, how can a kid advocate for themselves if they don’t know anything. They aren’t required to give everyone a return time. There are plenty of people that stand in line with others and they have disabilities too, it’s called managing your disability. I see people saying they have anxiety so they can’t wait in line, really? Or people that say they have diabetes so they can’t wait in line because their sugar will go up, really? These people ruined it for…

I understand you don’t understand what it’s like to be disabled. I see you also don’t understand what it means when they say “ADA compliant” that actually only refers to the construction requirements of the law. It basically refers to access with wheelchairs or scooters and ramps instead of stairs. It has nothing to do with the accommodations part of the law. Providing accommodations under the law means to make it so those who are disabled are able to do what the able bodied are, like wait in line. I can also see you don’t understand that the DAS is NOT a front of the line service or that we end up waiting more time than standby/G+/ILL guests do. We…

It all seems so dire and hopeless.

And still they’d rather persecute disabled people, cause an untold amount of upset and trauma, than address the Elephant in the room which is the awful Genie+
